28 Feb 2011

Hey hey
This week was AMAZING! Yea we went to the temple and that itself was amazing, but what’s even cooler is what happened after the temple. So who do you think we'd happen to run into in the middle of the pacific? And just happen to have the right session time to have them come out right after us?

We were all just sitting out side the temple getting ready to leave then, um Elder ... I forget his name but he’s the secretary for the Caribbean presidency comes out just talks to us for a second says well today we have a special guest in the temple today, he’s coming out right now actually, were all like oh cool... then he just says something like yea Elder nelsons a pretty cool guy then walks off... ha-ha were like WOH wait ... THE Elder Nelson?

So we decided we could wait a second or two. then about a min later Elder Nelson just comes on out looks back in holds the door for his wife and The WHOLE Caribbean presidency and temple presidency and Elder Snow of the 70 presidency and yea were all just stared at him and he stared at us for like 5 mintues then his wife said yup looks like missionaries to me ha-ha. but yea

At first he thought we were all from the ccm (MTC) and said oh I'll be going in to talk to all of you in a second but then once he told him he shook all are hands and said hi. It was AWESOME. Ha-ha, we were SOOO lucky to have gone to the temple at the exact same time as him. Wow.

So that was a pretty good experience in itself. But unfortunatly for that we had to go to bani for the night becuase were so far out from the temple. And because of that, we had to fire six people and the next day we didn’t get back until five or six so we had to fire six more people. So that after noon we just taught our progressing people in La Barra. But the next day was just running around trying to apologize and reschedule people and then going all the way to the Barra again...
Going to La Barra branch really makes you miss real church and real hymns. Because that place is just a GIANT primary. When they sing no one really knows the hymns so its just yelling at the top of there lungs and singing like senor te nesecito, they make that one sound like some kind of Indian tribe song its actually sounds almost cool but yea, and everywhere is just rushed and well defiantly a very new area trying to grow up, literally.

But the good thing about that is every Sunday we have five people there woot woot and there all progressing still! Especially Rosanna she reads everything and she even took notes once! She’s awesome. However the other four think learning is just memorizing a line and not even the significance of the line. There's gregorio, tyson, wellington( we actually starting to work with his family a little bit which would be awesome if that worked out) then daneri. though lucky we've been working with that problem and now there actually learning stuff and can explain stuff, but every time we go they all try and impress us with stuff they’ve learned. Like we haven’t taught Word of wisdom yet but there telling us what kind of stuff we shouldn’t drink or eat. Ha-ha, it should be fun. Unfortunately though we had to push gregarious baptism back a week, because he skipped church but I think we would of had to anyway because not to be mean but he has a harder time learning then the others but we've started to find a new method to teach him that seems to be working better for him to understand it better. Which is good, I just hope my new comp can follow that method.
Speaking of which... I'm getting a new comp! Tuesday or tomorrow. He’s a Dominican, unfortunately, I still can’t remember his name it’s kind of hard. Elder A.... something.. but yea I hear he doesn’t speak a lick of English so... yea its going to be a hard transfer, and by the end I'm thinking ill have some really good spanish, hah hopefully at least, I'm sure there’s still quite a few kids in my old Spanish class that still have better spanish then me but, we'll see after this transfer :)

Did I tell you all I'm officially 160lbs and probably over now so I'm guessing that’s why my pull-ups went down... ha-ha but yea started working out a bit harder to prevent any more weight. Cause then it will get out a control and nasty. then maybe it will look like my shirts fit me;)

But yea nothing really happened this week it just flew by... what happened more had to have happened.... we had a personal record amount of teaching this week, just because we have progressing people.. But we defiantly did a lot better this transfer then last. Our lessons with member doubled and without them went up a good amount too so yea nothing. Oh megalina and Wilson... Still not married! Those two just need to go to Haiti and work something out. But their daughter nesira we finally got her to take a baptism date!!!!! she’s always been talking about how she was baptized in the catholic church we always explain about authority and how you need it so woot con that! Um yea and she’s had all the lessons been going to church with her mom every time she went, she’s 22 by the way not a lil one. But um yea....
oh yea so this may be a reason I gained a TON of weight last month I did the math and on average for that month if I remember right I ate something like 700 cookies like Oreo size... I was addicted to those. But I got off them and am slowly finding healthier snacks in the colmados that are still cheap but filling. I'm gonna miss colmados when I got state side, (good thing I have a while till then eh?) But yea colmados really have anything you need and are on every single corner, you just go in grab what you want put the money down and leave.. There is no line process if you wait in line style you will never get to by what you want. Never will you stand there all day. Though some guys are nice and be like no el primero. But others its fight or flight. but yea we never have to carry snacks around, you think hey I'm thirsty you turn to your left run in and grab one give the money and you’re down, hungry same deal, in and out you have what ever you want right there at all times, its kind of like 7 11 but smaller and no line. So were afraid were going to go stateside grab stuff put money on the counter and leave and they’ll be like hey there mister! Best not be stealing my stuff. and a lot of the colmados don’t count but trust you like I gave paid our colmado guy in 1s and he will for the most part ask X amount right I say yea he gives the Dominican arm and we go our ways. I love our colmado guy he’s awesome. funny too. we actually ended up contacting he’s house one day that was diffenrent apparently he lives in pueblo abajo about a 10 15 min walk away usually the people have there house connected to there house. not far at all. but yea I think that’s all
Good luck everyone and have a good week, live life to the fullest but choose the right, and all that jazz or at least something to that tune.
But love yall

21 Feb 2011

Hey Everyone,
Long time no talk, um this week was actually awesome! Presidente gave us a huge boche for our numbers being low, and said either we are not working or the members aren’t. Then President Wally also gave a huge boche. In addition, pres said if the 6 of us didn’t have at least 45 lessons together, he’d take 4 or all 6 of us out that week. So this week the members have been working super super hard! This week has defiantly been our best week. We had as many references this week in one day as many as we had in all of the last transfer! We are afraid that pres will think were lying about our numbers because of how high they are compared to last week, but its just because of the members working with us now.

I think I'm going to be good at public speaking by the time I get back from my mission, we constantly teach huge groups of people. We hit a record with how many people we have taught at once. We were down in la barra and teaching a reference of President Wally’s, so he was there and he said to bring the members we were working with because it was a joven (young man) we were working with so she came a along, (chiquita) and then the women whose house they use for church for some reason decided to come along too. So I guess three of them don’t count. However, after every lesson we taught. the people followed us to the next one... it was Super awkward! hah but anyway at the last lesson we sit down with this kid and his family and then the 6 kids that were following us sat on the side of the wall. (were teaching it outside) so were up to 15 people there, and occasionally people walking by would just stop and see what was going on some would stay others would leave, eventually though we had 28 people just hanging out just listening in on what were teaching! Hah 28... it was a ton of people but luckily it was the first lesson and we teach that one all the time so I actually knew all the words I needed for that one and didn’t look like a fool. I felt bad for the kid because when we asked him questions everyone would just look at him to see if he knew... it was probably super hard for him to feel the spirit or anything. Because of how many people were there, chatting in the back at times and you could tell he was nervous because he’d keep looking at all the people but his mom just mopped the house so we couldn’t go in and leave everyone else. But he must have liked the message a little bit because we got a return cita.

Yea that kid lives in la barra, and well there’s three areas to Ocoa la barra, parra and the pueblo. One companionship assigned to each one, we live in the pueblo and parra and barra are both about a 40 min walk from it on either side. We’re assigned to parra but for some reason Wally gave us the references for the barra so we went there for church and wow that building is small! And had a TON of ninos and there is a primary but with sacrament. There had to be 60 kids in there. Maybe 6 adults but yea so now I am now working all three of the areas. We I've decided to just call Ocoa in general our town and the other missionaries are just visiting.

Things here are still messed up, you know how in the olden times husbands could be like hey you wifey no mas de esto! Por que I’m the man and I say so. But now it’s not as so. here they still talk like that. I was talking with chiquita on the way to parra and we started talking about dancing and all that turns out she knows a ton about it and she was even the head of a dancing club and her dream was to go dancing on those shows and stuff but her husband said she couldn’t dance anymore because some times dancing costumes were too reveling or something, I suggested just more clothes when dancing but she said she tried but he still said no. jacked up.. but yea she still happy at least though she’s got three kids O’Neil is my favorite he’s the youngest and a Picano! I love him every time he sees me he’s like z-lako! ha-ha and one time he’s dad gave him this huge sweet bread thing and he just holds it out in front of him and has HUGE eyes and just rotating it in his hands just says Diantre! Hah but like the whole way he said it and his face was super funny.

Last P' day we went to the waterfall! In addition, by it there’s huge cave! Well basically, it was the best pday EVER! We were all in the cave and bats would just occasionally just dart out from somewhere and elder Jimenez said he was hit in the head by one. I’m bad at telling stories but it was super super fun.

This pday we had to come to bani and spend the night here so we can go to the TEMPLE tomorrow! But what stinks is we have to fire 6 citas today! In addition, we didn’t have time to stop by and reschedule. (Sorry my spelling has gone down so much) and all 6 of there are people that are actually progressing. Which really stinks that we can’t go teach em. But hopefully they’ll understand it wasn’t our choice to fire them.

Speaking of investigators, megalina and willson still are not married! He said he’s going to go to the embassy in the capital this week to see if he can do something there about it... so fingers crossed there. I contacted them my very very first day and 12 weeks later still trying to get them married. He’s slowly making progress though. But with colera in the way in the border and money in the way of travel its super hard...

Out of those 6 references in la barra 6 seem like there super super legit! and were haven’t gotten new pamplets in forever so we ran out and for one of them we had to leave the word of wisdom for the first cita because Wally made us give one. But she read it and said yea... I’m living this already I tried cafe and don’t really like it, cafe is huge here so we were like YES! Ha-ha and as a first cita pamplet too! So either the 12 of March is going to be a day full of baptisms or going to be a really let down of three weeks to come... but I got faith in em they all seem super super ready for this. Some even the first few things they said to us are when can I get baptized and when can I go to the temple. Ha-ha pretty cool I think.

But yea feel free to write me,
Love yea

Feb 7, 2011

It’s crazy in two months I'll have a quarter of my mission done, its going fast. I need to work harder, though this week was my comps and my best week for teaching and stuff even better then last week.

Unfortunately our investigators don’t want to go to church! Then again the place were contacting is a bit far from the church, its about a 15min walk to san Antonio which is where Claris lives. Then about 10 mins after that to yackaline. Then about 15mins more after that to jaun y martiza, so about a 40 mintue walk for the last people but still hahah its worth it to go to church right?

We offer to pay for a motor for them so they’re just being lazy. Though we need to think of a better way to teach to inspire em to get em pumped about going to church hah but well be working on that...

oh so were a little farther from the last people we have been contacting and we wound up by the river we cross to go to Parra just way down it.Its leads to san louis. So we decided it would be faster to get to san louis if we just follow the river instead of going through town. We decided to follow it. We were going quickly when the side we were on runs out of room to walk. So we had huge gaps you had to jump with more water flowing into the river. hah So we had to keep trying to jump those and after a while of doing that the gaps kept expanding.

Then this guy who was herding his cows walks buy us. It was intimidating at first because this huge herd of cows with some nice horns was walking toward us. After walking through them for a while its was like, ok we're fine. A while after the cows our side of the river completely ran out of ground to walk on, so we had to cross the river. The whole time its getting dark and drizzling... adds to the story hahah This was one of my funniest nights. I felt like an adventure man, like Indiana Jones or something... Anyway the path, we were now walking on, after a while ended up just being a piece of land in the middle of the river. So, it also ran out of land to walk on as well and we had to cross again. We always crossed over to the right without thinking, which was putting us further from where we wanted to be.

After we crossed the river that time it was completely dark and still drizzling. And it turned out the side we were on, had on one side had a nice cliff, we were at the bottom off the cliff I cant think how to describe it. It was like a wall on one side and the other side quickly ran out of land. We were way out from the city along the woods and we see this house, it popped up out of no where. It was literally in the middle of no where. They tell us if we climb up and walk a little there’s a bridge that crosses the river. So we climb on up and walk a little and we get to the "bridge". haha Best bridge I’ve ever seen! haha It’s just a step latter down the side of the drop. Off it leads to three or four rocks in the water we can jump from to cross the river... haha so FUN! Haha It was a night of adventure but, in the end we got to our cita (appointment) and they fired us... haha That’s just the mission... The short cut ended up being longer but, was fun.

So Elder Aguero baptized his first person and we went. haha This guy Louis, the quietest guy you will ever meet, rarely talks. He’s also a pretty hefty guy. Anyway when aguero goes to "dunk" him, for lack of a better word. The guy didn't want to go down... he just took a couple steps back then went down but his foot was way out. The second time he wouldn’t go down all the way, third time Aguero kind of pushed him more but his foot came up again hahaha each time they tried explaining just bend your knees. Aguero kept trying to give him hints. Fourth time though he finally got it but each and every single time he was super hesitant to go under so this last time I guess aguero was getting tired of this so haha everyone said it looked like he like tackled the guy and shoved him under. hahah as soon as he was done saying what he needed to say it was like WHAM! Under... not even a second to think. The guy after didn’t even act like anything went down. hahah Most would be like embarrassed or something but Loui, he just sat there with his usual smile and nice and quiet haha he’s awesome.

This water is usually cold and one time McMahan was baptizing someone but, her foot came up and she was like no, no I’m good its cold I want out. They tried explaining that she needed to redo it cause it wasn’t valid. haha But her first initial reaction was funny she’s like na I’m good. haha but she did, just a funny story...

oh so the other day I realized we have 6 missionaries in the house and we have 3 plates two of which are broken and 3 bowls one has a crack down the middle and 2 cups and 5 forks 6 spoons and 2 giant sharp knifes and one smaller sharp one and 13 butter knifes... haha its a pretty random assortment for 6 people and no more then 2.5 can have cereal at the same time haha need to buy more..

We were contacting the apartments a while ago and we went back to teach this one family but, they were sitting out with there friends. It was just like one or two o'cock and they wanted to stay outside because the power was out and the fan didn’t work.. So we taught them outside and they didn’t have enough seats. We didn't want them to stand, so 3 of us stood and like 4 sat with an extra chair... Some of the people just really wanted you to take their seat. Anyway.. we were teaching them and people starting listening in from the over walks and stuff. haha A man state side told me, if you have to talk to a huge group of people about the gospel, he'd be like, ha! yea... or about if I had to talk about anything for that matter. But, I felt like a legit preacher there. Just a bunch of people staring at me, me talking about the importance of el libro de mormon! haha So weird... I think it's just in English that I have a hard time talking in front of large groups.

We were walking through the park and saw this huge group of white people... ha It was weird. So we stopped to talk and I was NERVOUS I don’t know why. At the apartments I'm like ok this is just an other day. But with the Canadians its was different. I don't know why but it turns out they were here building houses for a week. You could tell they weren’t here too long. We asked where they were staying and said someone said a town about an hour away called Ocoa. We were already and defiantly standing in the Ocoa park. haha They were super nice and really cool. That same day we meet 2 Japanese Jewish people and a Norwegian Jew. haha It was really weird, like international day in Ocoa. Everyone was super nice, the Canadians especially. All and all really fun.

None of our investigators went to church... except Wilson! He’s a tight guy but, just needs to get over to Haiti to get some papers! Every time we go over to his home now they make us juice... so good! Except last time they made us one that’s supposed to be really good with milk powder in it... They put a bit much in it and it tasted like I was drinking straight baby milk powder or something it was horrible. I just had to grin and chug. haha

Love y'all!

Jan 31 2011

HEY! Now I just feel funny writing a letter to y'all knowing it’s just
Going to go to a blog, ha-ha weird feeling like I feel like I cant be my
self ;) hah but we know that’s gonna happen regardless once I get into
it... see I'm even talking to y'all now! Ha-ha but seriously my week was
AMAZING we found 4! New families!! Yolanda, Caesar y Ategracias,
Yackaline y her husband Carlos? Don’t judge me we only met him once or
Twice once on random contact at someone else’s house and when his wife
sent him to church but he left soon after sacrament meeting. And the
fourth is Gladi. They are all amazing!!

Though we picked the worse spots to be working at the same time! Were
working three different peaks. When you’re at the top of one you can
literally see the house of our next investigator on the next peak
they're pretty close but the only way to get to it is go all the way
down and then hike all the way back up the next one. And it seems to
have a nice little valley in-between each peak. But yea 3 of the 4
investigators happen to be on the highest peak of the three mountains
Ha-ha our star people are always in the highest most obscure place to
get to that you wouldn’t want to walk to. Ha-ha but yea I think I told
you about this last week now that I think about it... did I? I know I
told you about the mountain people.. the mountain people is Gladi she’s
at the top of the highest peak, but the rest of her family just walks
by stands listens for a while then walks a way... in one lesson I
counted at one point we had 7 children there and 4 adults. And that
was at one point they’d just switch off on who was there ha-ha its
ridiculous up there.

Though for a while my comp was starting to think Gladi is a Jehovah
Witness just trying to waste our time. Because first off my comps
pretty positive they’re following us and talking to our investigators
Because everywhere we go and teach a few days latter we see the
"watchtower" in there house and that’s there magazine. And when we
talk to people in our area that we’ve been teaching they’ll ask how
many missionaries we have in the area because we’ve been teaching that
area and they’ll say they’ve seen another missionaries of ours walking
around that weighs about 400 pounds. There is a Jehovah witness that is well on the
hefty end and all of our missionaries are pretty flaco. Everyone
confuses us with Jehova witnesses but yea we have people in super random spots
all far from each other we teach, but each one now has a watchtower...
And my comps convinced because they say they did the same thing to
him in hyna. But I'm sure it’s just a coincidence I think there’s a lot
of them and there’s 6 of us so its bound we run into each others people
at times. But still Ocao is huge with all its subdivisions and we work
the surrounding areas as well.

Oh so we’ve defiantly spoiled ourselves this week ha-ha we got pizza
Hut!! And burger king!! SOOOO good but SSOOO expensive. We figured we
we're about to get more apoyo so we'll be good. When we were in BK it
seriously felt like you were back in the States super clean, aircon,
SUPER SUPER nice bathrooms wow... and yea when you looked out the
window you had a Texaco... it was crazy though the menu was in
Spanish and pesos. But I still got a crown and everything. I know
it’s weird but that’s seriously the nicest bathroom I've seen in forever!
Super clean and nice and aircon.

What else happened this week... had my first Zone conference. President
gave a few bouches and said that numbers are super important and if
you say numbers aren’t important you need to repent now. Ha-ha in my mind
he has a small good point because he said there needed to keep track
of how the area is progressing and stuff which is super important too.
So yea, but the way he was talking was like yea focus on numbers and
the way he acts about numbers he seriously ahs people paranoid about
numbers. And he doesn’t count lessons without members and apparently
we're also supposed to have a member for first lessons, which are
about 70% of the lessons anyone teaches. And here the members are
super unwilling to go, which I don’t blame them this is literally
rock climbing where we are. So this week we had 0 members
present up till Thursday but, we had 23 others. So all wed report is a
big old Zero. We were working hard, we thought. At the end we had 7
and 27 our best week yet. But we don’t even report the other. So
everyone’s paranoid about being special transferred out of an area
Because pres has done that before for low numbers and because we
taught so many lessons our number was down for contacting so its looks
even more like we weren’t working.

So it makes it hard to think people not numbers. or people not
lessons. Yea enough ranting It’s bad to rant. Like my comp says
Pres has the keys for this area and is entitled to revelation for
this area and knows best for it

It’s been a good week, though Manuel is slowly becoming less animated,
it’s super saddening but were got a plan to re animate him it’s gonna be
good.

There’re coconut trees here, mostly banana trees though and stuff like, that.
Platinos, bananas a few coconuts here and there and a bunch of other random fruit tree
things. And a TON of avocado trees, I still need to try those. One day...

I think all my pants are 32” but all of my G´s are 30” and well all the
32s dont fit excpet this one that is strechty. I’m not getting fat though
I’m just filling out. I just look a bit fuller. but yea I think I’m
going to have to buy new bigger G´s these ones are getting really
uncomfortable...haha and pants I’m having a few made in bani they’re 700
pesos each so cheap for handmade pants but I may end up sending back
those other pants. So maybe JD can use them for something. But as of
now only one pair really fits me I think the others are too tight.
They put a nice red lines in me after wearing them. I´m NOT fat
Though. hahaha I’m just filled out. haha not fat haha ill send you a
profile or something to prove it ha-ha but seriously I'm seriously not. I was just
super small before I left. Oh I kind of don’t want to send you pics to
Leave you in the dark of what I look like :) I looked at the one I
took right before I left the mtc and the one I took today at BK I
think I look way different, well just older. or something. I'm going to leave you in the dark. ;)
But yea I love it here.

Hmm… Orchid, he started emailing me in the CCM but stopped.
I wonder why he doesn’t want to get to know me more. Maybe I offended
him.

Yea it’s not hard to love the people here, they are seriously
SUPER amazing and super humble and generous, I’m pretty sure I've said
it before but, they have casi nada but when you come to their door
they’ll give you their seat and everything. And if you need help, most
of them will drop whatever there doing to make sure you get where you
need to go and good to go. I love em' SO much they're awesome. ha-ha got
their own unique sense of humor and all. Oh no I haven’t sent that
CD yet I’m still working on that. I kinda forgot to do that. I'll
look for it today. if I have time. But yea love y'all a ton!

Jan 24, 2011

Hey family!!

Hows it going!? pero first off what's every one's Bdays? I really dont want to forget anyone while I'm out here, I mean anyone and everyone I know, even if you think I know it, send it please:) That would be a great help! no joke

But yea so this week was SUPER hard to work, they had patrinalis going on, its a nationwide holiday and EVERY one was coming down to Ocoa. Because famous singers like secreto y omega and all them where coming down, huge party in the park every single night, and this park is huge. Like I don't know how to discribe it, it's like 4 blocks squared? But it was packed with people every single night and they all were wasted out of there mind, so no one wanted to listen during the day. Super hard week to work. No one progressed, not one. Though it all improved as soon as it was over. Yesterday we had 17 citas lined up and 10! of them were there!!! That never happens! Usually when we have it like that, only like 4 or 5 show up the rest left all day to the campo or something. Whats even more amazing is 6 of those 10 have a return cita!! Truly AWESOME! And about 3 of the 6 where SUPER super animated and nice. But you never know those other 3 as well could change or that's just there personality and they actually really want to know more. I really hope they all progress.

So, the area we're tracking in now is literally up this super mountain. I thought the last couple mountains were steep but this one, hahah I guess God was just prepping us to be strong enough to climb up this one. The houses are in rows up the mountain and well you get bored out there, so somehow me and my comp started calling it like world one and world two, like in mario. And occasionally there would be paths that lead up to the next one before it was finished those would be pipes. And the house at the very top was bowsers castle, which is actually progressing! We went up there and it was just 3 people sitting in chairs. Then slowly more and more people kept coming out until there was like 13+ people there. Not even joking, we ask if there was more house for you but they said nope. So now we call them the mountain people. They say mormons and decided to all come out of the mountains to listen. We also had a star world it was a super steep stair case with a gold railing like was about a foot high. haha super pointless, no one in there wanted to hear more.

Oh yea so, yesterday we were tracking and we were teaching this lady and in the back ground on her tv we see this movie and its some anti mormon movie thing. Where apparently mormons gang up with Indians and kill pioneers? I guess its a true story? I've never heard of this though. But as we went tracking we saw the same show on a couple people's tvs. haha, just our luck to contact when the anti mormon show was on...

oh and so, apparently I know how to cook. haha, raro eh? Yea I made garlic butter noodles a few times and all the guys love it. hah and their like, , hmm and when I make me mac and cheese I let em try it. They say it taste better then when they make it by far. They want to know what I do different but, I don't do nothing different. They also call me king of the french fries, oh man i love french fries now. Potatoes are pretty cheap 1 pounds is about 16 pesos so I've been hitting that up a lot lately. Making lots of wedge style fries and man yum. But I think there just trying to boost my cooking ego. It's probably just because generally, they just make ramen. And have been eating just that for a while. Who knows eh?

Manuel was confirmed this week!! But just like maunel to give us a scare, he told us not to remind him this week and he'd show up on his own. So we didn't and it was like, 9:05 and he usually shows up at 8:45. So we were super worried and Smith was convinced he wasn't showing up. So we went in and like 3 mins later we're singing opening hymn and manuel comes in and sits by me. What a stud... haha.

Oh so we've now down two special music numbers in church. Whenever pres needs a time filler he just ask us to do music number and we sing a hymn. I guess we sound good or something. haha

Monday January 17, 2011

So you´re right, I definatly dont like that you wont write back right durning Pday. But If theres any thing i guess the mission has taught me to deal with changes or stuff i really dont like. so thats cool. But for that no pictures this week! haha. That and we went to the internet center that doesn't send em... I Don´t know why, I think it's becuase Elder McMahan wanted to come here and Elder Smith loves to go Where Elder McMahan goes or does.

But Something Super cool this week, Maunel got BAPTIZED! IT was AWESOME! Though at first he gave us a scare earlier in the week. Around thrusday we went to his cita but he wasnt there, his Gma was like "he should be back by now im sure i just saw him". So we thought it was just like eliane all over again. But luckly he was just at the capitail for an apoinment and just hadnt got back yet, and was super strong as always the next day! He even came to his baptism super early and brought TWO friends. Now we're teaching them for a while. We thought we were going to have to get him (Manuel) baptised next week because the whole branch was at the carribin conference and not back yet. They were supposed to be back by 630 but at 7 said they wouldnt be back till 8. Manuel, however, wanted to go now and was kinda happy at the fact he didnt have a TON of people there. But we still had Dianna, Stephanie and a couple others so it was just us 6 missionaries and 4 other people? but it was awesome he was super pumped and yea just a boss about it.

Um... I dont know what to talk about i was going to talk about a bunch of pictures I was going to send you, or ask questions wait for response have like a lil convo but thats out... oh so i´m through my first trnasfer! Got the trnaasfer call to see who was going where... Santa'hilare is going to the captial and jimenz is getting his padraste elder something. And the rest of us are staying here in Ocoa. Smith was almost positve that he was leaving here. To the point he was a bit paranoid. saying stuff like "Ive seen it happen to other elders, they wont see it coming then the guagua will come take em away that night wont get a chance to take a pit with the members or anyone." But what they´ve been telling me the whole transfer is that almost always someone whos transfering is with them for two trnasfers and SUPER SUPER rare that its only one and its usualy 2-3 trnasfers so yea i Dont know what the was worried about. but yea your heart gets suprizingly pumped durning that call wondering if youre going, staying or what's your fate or still the same comp a new one. Everyone was like dead quiet. Trying to find out. It was intense.

oh so we took a pic with a bull becuase elder McMahan had a pretty legit one with a donkey where there both staring down the camera. So I wanted one with a bull so it would look tougher, but once you're actually with the bull or decidng to get close its a differnt story. We walk by them all the time in the road and they'll be loose too, doing there own thing but once you accutally want to get close they become scary. They don't do anyth more to be scary they just are. So I was joking when we passed these two bulls like lets do it. We got some space between these two citas, then erick a member who was with us was like cool yea. Then I was like no, but then he was like "hey can we get a pic with yours bulls" to the owner. and he was like yea but I definatly was not about to do that. So the owner was laughing and said go for it they're nice just walk up slow and put your hand on them they wont do a thing.
But I still said no, so he came down and was like see nothing. So erick did it, then smith. So i had to do it but, I thought I was super close to the bull. The bull didnt stare down the camera at all. Instead when I looked at the picture I look SUper Gringo just grinin ear to hear leaning way over with my hand on a bull like yea look at me im touching a bull:) haha what makes it worse is the bull wanted nothing to do with the pic so it was trying to pull away and its nose ring was pulling because it was tied off i think the bull was more scared of me then I it. but ya in the pic it looks super funny becuase its pulling away so it looks crossed eyed with buck teeth and haha ya so my super tough manly picture looks like I'm a gringo with a silly bull. but I love it all the same! haha

(in reply to a comment about bugs in the potting soil of his plants.) oh that super stinks about all the bugs A TON. but thats awesome about my plants! hah though move here you'll get use to those bugs quick especially ants, you cant get rid of em no matter what! And flys, when your teaching a lesson phew so annoying but once you get into it you kind of forget about them. They'll be crawling on ya and ya wont notice even your face and be like yea. I know this is true, while the fly is just crawling all over you;)

(the names in this section have been changed to protect the inocent, if you don't know what this about ask mom she'll tell you) oh tell Drolley I´m SUPER sorry that he got a boche for doing that! that stinks a TON. who'd he get yelled at by? You should tell 'em to grow up and not yell at people for a SUPER harmLESS joke. Beside what does it matter as long as my thing is up there. Most places dont even have plaques here they just have a pic of the person. If that. I dont think he should of gotten a boche for that, at all. Tell him I'm sorry he got in trouble for that. Who yelled at him? Who told? Who cared? Cant mess with Drolley! Speaking of which whats his address and Walley's also?

You should tell em both, Sorry for the trouble and good job but secretly so they dont get in trouble for me applauding them.

ok so you got so lucky. The generator died at the other place so we came here and it has picture ability and yea so this is my awesome bull picture with the scared bull.

And this is manuels baptism! so awesome! It's smith, aguero, manuel, me in back, manuels friend mcmahan, almost everyone that was at the baptism. hah but man was it an amazing baptism i loved every second i hope this kids sticks through it. til the end he'd make an amazing misionary, no joke.
so yea this one is with erick and maria erick is marias son and there both members both super AWESOME yea. there cool thats at marias house and ima get one of the full family later,

this one is of us and our awesome work out equipment. yea you could say were really men or from the misionary hood. haha

That reminds me the power has been out for a while and I really need to wash my pants because they were nasty so i washed em by hand and a bunch of other clothes haha ant yea proud of me?

haha but yea It was interesting, just an other thing I can say I've done by hand I here there's some areas where everything is by hand even showering hahA. Not like washing your self by hand because, duh! But like having a bucket by you and pouring it over you with a ladel then soap then ladel they've had to do that a few times here because ocasionaly the water leaves too. They said it was gone for a week once so you'll wait patiently for that to come. But yes, this is a nicer house in the mision has a water heater. When there's light there's usualy water and a washer and a new fridge so yea were lucky here. It should be fun when I go to an area where you manual shower and handwash clothes all the time not just every 6 weeks, makes ya realize how well off we are state side. Because we really are super well off. Especaily in some of the investigators houses we go to, we started tracking in the one place I call hyna valley its a valley with two super steep hills on either side. And it goes for a long time and on each hill there's tons of houses going up and for stair steps, they use tires put in the ground and the house are made of tin and tires and its super poor area but the people are as kind as ever. Love em but there super poor.

This first one is of the photo grama marge sent me and I made it a photo frame with a ziploc bag she sent and a ceral box,

speaking of which you should get apretty legit post card in a couple weeks :) just saying but yea its says flakes because were flakes haha i think. I'm not exactly sure what flakes means in that context but i like it. hah So I'm sticking with it haha

This picture is of an other place were tracking its one of the better off areas I've seen. I liked the view so i took a pic. hah but yea thats that and im out of time. So Love you all and hope youre doing great and even though i should never be promoting rebelion or anything even remotly close to something like that. I think you all should combine as a 9th ward force and put my plack back in 9th wards but keep Drolley out of it so he doesnt get an other boche. Nevermind that's really immature. Still think it was super imature of who ever got mad at Drolley just for something as smal as that. Tell him i got his back, no that sound super unmisionary like. But still thats was super wow of whoever got mad at a harmles act right? Why does anyone care who did it? Who gave him the boche? give em the dominican finger! before you get the wrong idea its nothing like the american finger. It's just you waging your pointer finger and it just Means no, like someone asks you a question you just wag your finger, or in a convo you want to say no you just wag your finger it just means no thats all. They are lazy here. To say no, wag the finger. To point, point with your lips thers a few more. but I can't remember them they a bit more rare but everyone does the lips and finger. I love the finger especially. I do it now all the time. I love it.

Love ya!

3 Jan 2011

my week has been great, long but great. We're still teaching Megalin, Wilson and Maunel frequently. We're pretty positive that Wilson is into it now becuase we though his wife megalina just made him go to church but she was gone this week end and he still came to church! All by himself!! which is a huge step for him we think... however we still have to find a way to get him his papers to get them married. Thats the only thing stopping 'em from being baptisied. Maunel he's just a star investigator, we contacted him a while back then he wasnt there but later he found us in the street and was like "hey why didnt you stop by my house again?" he got the times mixed up or we did . So since then we´ve been teaching him and he has been awesome were pretty sure he's an inactive member just messing with us or something. But his date is the 15th de enero so well see if he is really into this or not. I hope he is.

hah the rivers good no more rashes or nothing. I'm sure thats long gone now. The river we crossed it yesterday and got some night crossing pictures but elder smith was like wait i need to take an other one this ones bad, and hes like, act like your falling or going against it so i was there in the river for a while, hah and this river during the day is chilly, but wow at night woh, lot colder.

but have a great week email back if yea can talk to yea later have fun choose the right and all that jazz:)
love yea

one is of us in an ATM booth it was super hot out and Elder Aguero needed money and the booth had AC so we all took advantage of that oppertunity for AC haha its kind of a rare deal. haha so yea though im sure all the people on that corner all think mormons are weierd now...

This one is of our apartment, it doesnt show the one of the bedrooms and the bathroom. but the one from the study room the room kind of off to the side is the bathroom and across is the other room. which reminds me we got a new shower curtain! we defiantly need a new one the old one was a torn up sheet of plastic it was nasty and probably got more things wet then preventing it getting more wet.

ok river crossing durning the day,

and chirstmas morning just opened presents and got our swords and went for it. I believe we also got the nativity in there. Loved the tree a ton! Especially the ornaments.

that pic somes up our relationship as a companionship:) pretty much he's a strange man that elder... very strong mindset on following the rules but when it comes to following em... I usually get the line ¨ we really shouldnt be doing this¨ or ^¨normally we wouldnt do this¨ haha yea its a bit back and forth

oh and tell me to be responsible with my money, its super early in the month but I want to buy a couple boxes of american cereal they look SOO good but, they are a bit more expensive then the other cereal, 20 oz of flakes for 129 pesos? or 16 for about the same price thats acctaully not to big of a difference... hmm but i do like my cereal, I prob eat way more then I should in the morning but i do it anyway. Plus with all this walking i think i easly walk it off and I've started workin out like im supposed to do. So nevermind I think I'll buy it. Though PB captain crunch its like 169 dont remeber how much it has in it. I think 16, though for some flavored honey ghrams its about the same as the corn flakes. They have other off brand american stuff for about the same looks like cinoman squares... idk but they look good haha.

oh yea and im starting to learn how to cook. The lady that cooks our food for lunch lives next door so I've been going over helping and watching with my comp she tells us how to do it and we do. Ok its taking an amazing long time to load these pictures and it looks like my comp is done so i just send only the christmas one I think if it hurrys. If not this is still the last email for this week.
hope all goes smoothly love you
